Home Remodeled by Saline’s HSA Selected for Old West Side Home Tour in Ann Arbor

SALINE, MI (August 31, 2009) – A historic home recently expanded and enhanced by Homeowner Services of America, Inc., a Saline-based remodeling firm, has been selected as one of seven stops on the upcoming 37th annual Old West Side Home Tour in Ann Arbor.

HSA, working from designs by Kelly-Tinker Architects (www.kelly-tinker.com) of Ann Arbor, built a two-story addition with a finished attic for the home at 835 W. Washington St. The remodel, completed this past spring, expanded the home’s kitchen and first-floor bathroom, created office space and a second-floor bedroom, and relocated the home’s laundry facilities.

The home’s owners, James and Sheryl Gilmore, considered three remodeling firms and selected HSA based on the company’s capabilities and experience, as well as the positive references they received from other homeowners.

The addition and remodel has fulfilled the Gilmores’ need for more living space while blending in with the existing structure. The project also met the preservation requirements of the Old West Side Historic District Commission.

The Old West Side Home Tour will happen on Sunday, September 27 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Also featured on the tour will be five other homes in the historic Ann Arbor neighborhood, plus one business: Lurie Terrace, an independent living community for residents of age 62 and above, at 600 W. Huron St.

Tickets are $8 with advance purchase, or $10 on the day of the tour. A special price for seniors of $7 per ticket applies for those of age 65 and above.

Advance tickets are available until Saturday, September 26 at 3 p.m. at these area businesses: Nicola’s Books, Peaceable Kingdom, Jefferson Market, Washtenaw Dairy, and Downtown Home & Garden.

Guests are asked to remove their shoes upon entering the homes on the tour.
