Basement Remodel
Saline, Michigan

This "retreat" was formed by removing a wall and lowering the floor into part of the crawl space to create a pool with a waterfall in the lowered section. A direct-vent gas fireplace is set on stone piers in the center of the pool. The upper level of the retreat is the owner's home office.
